About this grant / loan
What the Aenne Speck Foundation gives you
You will receive direct financial assistance if you suffer from multiple sclerosis (MS) or a similar disorder of the central nervous system and have consequently found yourself in financial hardship. This is not a study grant, but charitable support for patients. The foundation provides assistance if your condition has left you in financial hardship or if you require treatment that is not covered by your health insurance. The board determines the amount of support on a case-by-case basis. The foundation does not specify a fixed amount or a fixed period, and payments may be made as a one-off or on a recurring basis. Aenne Speck founded the foundation in 2006 in Freiburg and bequeathed her entire estate to help MS patients.
Who can apply
- Health condition: A doctor has confirmed that you have MS or a similar disorder of the central nervous system.
- Financial need: Your illness has left you in financial difficulty, or you require treatment that your health insurance does not cover.
- Nationality: Any nationality can apply.
- Age: No age limit.
- Field of study or work: You do not need to be a student. Any person with MS who needs help can apply.
- Organisations: Research organisations and sports or cultural associations that work with people with MS may also apply, but must submit a project description together with a funding plan.
How to apply
Please send a brief written application, together with a medical certificate detailing your condition, to the foundation. There are no deadlines. The foundation processes applications in the order in which they are received and emphasises that it operates quickly and without red tape.
How realistic are your chances?
This support is aimed exclusively at MS patients who find themselves in genuine financial hardship; the target group is therefore narrow rather than broad. If you clearly meet these criteria and can provide evidence of both your diagnosis and your financial hardship, a well-substantiated application has a genuine chance of success. Please note that you have no legal entitlement to a payment. The committee decides on each case at its own discretion.
