About this scholarship

What DiSCo Lazio gives you

You get a yearly cash scholarship plus two free meals a day, paid to your bank account. How much you get depends on how far you live from your university:

  • Living at your study location (in sede): about 2,250 EUR per year.
  • Commuter under 50 km (pendolare): about 3,533 EUR per year.
  • Living away, over 50 km with a rental contract (fuori sede): about 6,472 EUR per year.

The amount rises by 15% if your family income is very low (ISEE up to 13,974 EUR), by 20% for women in STEM subjects, and by 10% if you have a recognised disability of 66% or more. Winners can also claim a room in a DiSCo student residence, grants for study or an internship abroad, and a bonus for graduating on time. The money comes from DiSCo, the student-aid body of the Lazio region in Italy. Funding lasts the normal length of your degree plus one semester.

Who can apply

  • Where you study: You are enrolled at a university or art, music or dance academy (AFAM) in the Lazio region, such as in Rome, Viterbo or Cassino.
  • Level: Bachelor, Master, single-cycle degrees (like medicine or law), PhD and specialisation courses all qualify.
  • Field of study: Open to all subjects.
  • Nationality: Open to Italian and international students, from the EU and beyond.
  • Family income: Your ISEE (a measure of family income and assets) must not exceed 27,948 EUR, and your ISPE (family assets) must not exceed 60,758 EUR.
  • Study progress: You need a minimum number of credits (CFU) for your year and course, counted as of 10 August 2025. Students with a disability of 66% or more and single mothers have easier credit targets.
  • No equivalent degree: You do not already hold a degree at the same level, including one earned abroad.

How to apply

You apply online only, through your personal area on the DiSCo website. Log in with SPID or CIE (Italian digital identity), or with DiSCo credentials if you only have foreign documents. The main deadline was 22 July 2025, with income documents (ISEE) due by then. If you do not live in Italy, your ISEEUP is due by 10 December 2025. There is no interview: the ranking is based only on income and study credits.

How realistic are your chances?

This is need-based aid, not a contest for a top few. If you study in Lazio, stay below the income limits and hit your credit targets, you have a real shot. A quarter of places go to first-year students and three-quarters to later years, and the pool is large. Submit your income documents on time, since a late or missing ISEE is a common reason applications fail.
