About this grant / loan

Vendée departmental honour loan

You get an interest-free loan of 600 to 2,700 EUR per year to help pay for higher education. In 2024/2025 the average award was about 2,340 EUR. This is not a gift: you pay it back, but with no interest and no guarantor needed. You can receive up to three of these loans during your studies. The money comes from the Vendée department (Conseil départemental) in western France, which supports young people from lower-income families so they can study further.

Who can apply

  • Where your parents live: Your parents must live in the Vendée department.
  • Nationality: You must be a French citizen.
  • Level of study: You are enrolled in higher education leading to at least a two-year post-secondary qualification (bac+2). Professional training courses of at least 6 months full time also count.
  • Family income: Your family's quotient familial must not exceed 6,750 EUR. This is your parents' total gross income divided by the number of people in the household. If your course fees are over 2,000 EUR, 2,000 EUR per studying child is deducted from the income first.
  • No apprenticeship: You cannot get this loan if you are on an apprenticeship contract.

How to apply

You apply online at subventions.vendee.fr. For 2025/2026 the window runs from 18 August 2025 to 31 March 2026. The Commission Permanente of the departmental council decides who gets a loan.

How realistic are your chances?

This loan is aimed at a narrow group: you need French nationality, parents living in the Vendée, higher-education enrolment and a family income below the threshold. In 2024/2025 only 14 students shared 32,770 EUR, so the pot is limited. If you clearly meet all the conditions and apply well before the March deadline, your prospects are good.
