Grand Est international mobility grant

You get a one-off payment of 200 EUR to about 1,100 EUR to help you study or do an internship abroad. The base amount depends on the type and length of the stay: 500 EUR for a study period of at least 16 weeks, 400 EUR for a short internship (12 to 15 weeks), 800 EUR for a long internship (at least 16 weeks), and 200 EUR for a shorter internship if you are in a BTS, DUT or DNMADE programme. You can get 200 EUR extra if you hold a CROUS state grant, and 100 EUR extra if you go to a country bordering Grand Est (Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg or Switzerland). The grant comes from the Région Grand Est in France to help its students gain international experience.

Please note: the Région Grand Est ended this grant by decision of 14 November 2025 for any stay abroad starting from 1 January 2026. New rules are planned for a regional council vote on 16 October 2026, taking effect for stays during the 2026-2027 academic year. Expect details from 20 October 2026 on the region's website or from your school's international office. The rules below applied to stays before then.

Who can apply

• Where you study: You are enrolled at a higher education institution in the Grand Est region of France.
• Level: You are in a DUT, BTS or DNMADE programme, or in your third, fourth or fifth year after the baccalaureate. First and second year students (L1, L2) do not qualify, unless they are in a DUT, BTS or DNMADE.
• Age: You are 29 or younger when the stay abroad begins.
• Where you go: Your study period or internship is abroad and counts towards your degree. Stays inside France and purely language stays do not qualify.
• Home country rule: If you are an international student, you cannot go to the country you originally come from.
• Housing: You pay rent abroad for the whole stay and do not live in France during it.
• Pay limit: If your internship is paid, you earn less than 700 EUR per month. From 700 EUR you no longer qualify.

How to apply

You apply online on the region's platform (Jeun'est). Submit your full application before the first day of your study period or internship. You then get an automatic confirmation by email.

How realistic are your chances?

While it was running, this was a straightforward grant rather than a contest. It went to anyone enrolled in the region who met the level, age and stay conditions, so a well-matched applicant who applied in time had good prospects. The main thing to watch was the deadline, since the application had to be complete before the stay began. For stays from 2026 onward, wait for the region's new rules.
