About this scholarship

What you get

You get one of three levels of support towards a postgraduate law course at BPP University in the UK: 3,000 GBP as a fixed amount (about 3,500 EUR), half your course fees, or your full course fees. Full fee means a free place on the course. The lower levels reduce what you pay, but there is no cash payout. BPP runs a scholarship fund of more than 1.4 million GBP each year, and a large share goes to students from under-represented backgrounds. The awards cover three routes: the Career Changer Scholarship for people leaving a non-law job to become a solicitor or barrister, the SQE Future Lawyer Scholarship for those training as solicitors, and the BTC Future Lawyer Scholarship for those training as barristers.

Who can apply

  • Course: You have applied to a postgraduate law course at BPP University. This can be a law conversion course (PGDL or Master's), an SQE course to become a solicitor, or the Barrister Training Course.
  • New student: You are enrolling for the first time. Students already on a course cannot apply.
  • Grades: You have at least a 2:1 in your first degree, which is an upper second-class UK honours degree. A 2:2 can also work if you show mitigating circumstances, judged case by case.
  • No full funding elsewhere: An employer or an Inn of Court does not already pay your full fees. Student Finance England master's funding is fine.
  • Nationality: Anyone eligible to study in the UK can apply. You arrange your own visa.
  • What they look for: Strong grades, resilience after real hardship, volunteering or unpaid legal work, commitment to your career, and leadership or transferable skills. First-generation students and those from under-represented backgrounds are welcomed.

How to apply

All three scholarships use one online application through BPP's scholarship portal. Applications are open for courses starting in September 2026 and January and February 2027. If you apply for the full-fee or half-fee levels by their deadline, you must complete a project, and you may be invited to an interview or assessment.

How realistic are your chances?

The fund is large and split across several routes and three levels, so the 3,000 GBP awards are more attainable than the full-fee places. The full-fee places draw the strongest applicants and need an extra project and possibly an interview. BPP openly favours applicants from under-represented backgrounds and those who show resilience alongside good grades, so a clear personal story and community involvement help you stand out. Applying by the earlier full-fee and half-fee deadline gives you a shot at the highest levels.
