About this scholarship

What you get

You get a free place at a 2026 summer course run by the Universidad Internacional Menéndez Pelayo (UIMP) in Santander, Spain. You do not get cash. Instead, the award pays your costs directly. There are two versions:

  • Full scholarship: covers the course fee (up to 395 EUR), a room in a shared double (up to 45 EUR per day) and full board (up to 37.24 EUR per day), each for up to 6 days depending on how long your course runs. You still pay your travel and a 22.50 EUR admin fee.
  • Fee-only scholarship: covers just the course fee (up to 395 EUR), for people who do not need a room or meals. You still pay the 22.50 EUR admin fee.

The courses run from 22 June to 11 September 2026 at the university's Santander site (Magdalena Palace). Around 70 short courses are on offer, each lasting about 3 to 5 days. Subjects include science and biomedicine, law and social science, humanities, Spanish language and linguistics, creative writing, international relations, digital transformation and AI, and environment and sustainability. The total budget for 2026 is 310,000 EUR.

Who can apply

  • Nationality: You are Spanish, a citizen of another EU country, or a non-EU citizen legally resident in Spain.
  • Study level: You are enrolled in an official bachelor's degree (or equivalent) at a university in an EU country in 2025-2026 and have already passed at least 60 ECTS credits. Alternatively, you finished such a degree after 31 December 2019.
  • Grades: Your grade average is at least 6.0 out of 10. If you studied outside Spain, you need an official grade-equivalence certificate from the Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities.
  • Field of study: Open to all subjects.
  • No double funding: You cannot hold another UIMP scholarship the same year. You also cannot work for the UIMP or have a close family link to its selection staff.

How to apply

Apply online through the UIMP application platform between 13 April and 4 May 2026. There is no interview. Applicants are ranked purely by grade average, with the highest averages getting priority. If two averages tie, the earlier application wins. Those who qualify but miss out go on a reserve list.

How realistic are your chances?

Selection comes down to one number: your grade average. So a strong record is what decides it. Places are handed out from a fixed budget in order of grades, so the higher your average and the earlier you apply, the better your prospects. With around 70 courses and a 310,000 EUR pot, there is room for many awards, but a modest average may leave you on the reserve list.
