About this scholarship
What you get
You get a one-off payment of about EUR 700 to EUR 2,450 per academic year (£600 to £2,100) from Sheffield Hallam University in the UK. Most students receive an amount near the lower end. To get the highest amount, you need to belong to several of the university's priority groups. Part-time students get a proportional share. You can receive the scholarship once per academic year and must reapply each year.
Who can apply
- Where you study: You are fully enrolled at Sheffield Hallam University.
- Level: You study a bachelor's course, a PGCE (teacher training) or an integrated master's. A standalone master's does not qualify.
- Fee status: You count as a UK student ('home' fee status). International students cannot apply.
- Tuition fee: You pay the 2026/27 fee of £9,790, the foundation-year fee of £5,760, or the part-time equivalent. You pay it yourself or through a student loan.
- Income check: A UK student funding body (such as Student Finance England) has assessed your household income, and you agree to share that figure with the university.
- Household income: Your household income is £62,410 or less.
- Priority groups (raise your amount): You get more if you belong to one or more of these. Care leavers (people who spent time in the care system as a child) are the first named group. Others include students estranged from their family, students with caring responsibilities, refugees, transgender and non-binary students, student parents, students with a disability, final-year students, students from minority ethnic backgrounds, and students on high-cost or high-intensity courses.
- Not eligible if: You receive a teacher education scholarship, an NHS Training Grant or a Social Work Bursary, or you study a School-Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT) course.
How to apply
You apply through the Scholarships section of your My Student Record (MSR) account and upload evidence for any priority groups you claim. For 2026/27 there are two windows: 7 September to 1 November 2026, and 6 January to 28 February 2027. A window can close early once the money runs out, so apply as soon as one opens.
How realistic are your chances?
This award is tied to one university and based on income, so only Sheffield Hallam students on a low household income compete for it. If you clearly meet the fee status and income conditions, the basic award is well within reach. Belonging to one or more priority groups is what pushes your amount higher. Apply early, because each window can shut once the money is spent.
