About this scholarship

What you get

You get a support package built around your sport as a student athlete at Teesside University in the UK, put together individually for each athlete. Financial support is one part of it, meant to cover training, competition and performance costs, though the university does not name a fixed amount. The rest is practical backing: access to top training facilities and unlimited use of the campus gym, personalised strength and conditioning, sport science and sport psychology support, tailored nutrition advice, physiotherapy and rehabilitation. You also get flexibility with your studies, so training and competition fit around your course. The support runs for the 2026-27 academic year, and there is no cap on the number of scholarships awarded.

Who can apply

  • University: You are enrolled, or about to enrol, on a full-time or part-time course at Teesside University.
  • Field of study: Any subject is fine.
  • Your sport: You compete in a sport recognised by Sport England. The focus is on Olympic sports, Paralympic sports and sports in the British University and College Sport (BUCS) competition programme.
  • Competition level: You compete at regional, national or international level.
  • Representing the university: You are willing to compete for Teesside University where this applies.
  • Studies: You meet the academic requirements of your course.
  • References: You can provide reliable references.
  • Nationality: All nationalities can apply.

How to apply

You apply online through a Microsoft Forms application. Applications are open from 20 November 2025 until 30 September 2026. A selection panel decides on each award. It may look at your financial background, past academic results and other details from your application, and it may invite you to an interview.

How realistic are your chances?

The number of scholarships is not capped, so this is not a fixed-places contest, and support is tailored to each athlete rather than shared from a small pot. If you genuinely compete at regional, national or international level in a Sport England sport and study at Teesside, you fit the core requirement well. A clear competition record and strong references are what make your case. Apply within the open window and be ready for a possible interview.
