About this award / prize

Benefit

This is a yearly research award, not a monthly scholarship. It recognises one person in France who has made a real difference in addiction medicine and research (addictologie), the study and treatment of dependencies such as drugs, alcohol or nicotine. You get a cash prize funded by Opella Healthcare France, an over-the-counter healthcare company. The amount is not published. The Academie nationale de Pharmacie (the French national academy of pharmacy) hands it out at its annual ceremony in December.

Eligibility

  • Nationality: You hold French nationality.
  • Profession: Pharmacists are preferred, but this is not a hard rule.
  • Your work: You have made a strong contribution to addiction research, through basic or applied research, or through hands-on work in the field.
  • How recent: The work you submit was published or completed less than 3 years before you apply.
  • Language: Your work is written in French or English.
  • One prize at a time: You can apply for only one of the academy's prizes per year. You may submit the same work to this prize at most twice.
  • Not a member: Members of the academy cannot enter.

How to apply

Send your complete application by email to the academy's office. It must arrive by midnight on Friday 4 September 2026. A specialist jury reviews the files and announces the winner at the December ceremony. There is no interview.

How realistic are your chances?

This award is cut narrowly. You must be French and have recent work in the specific field of addiction research, ideally as a pharmacist. That keeps the pool of eligible candidates small. If you clearly fit and can point to concrete, recent work, your prospects are solid. As a single annual prize decided on the strength of your file, a clear, well-documented submission is what counts.
