About this scholarship
What the Alumni Scholarship gives you
You get a 20% discount on your postgraduate tuition fees at the University of Bedfordshire for the 2025/26 academic year. This is a fee reduction, not a cash payment. For taught master's courses (MSc, MA), the 20% applies to your full tuition fees. For research degrees (MRes, MPhil, PhD), it applies to your first year only. The award goes to former students of the university who return to study a postgraduate course on campus.
Who can apply
- Your first degree: You completed a Bachelor Honours degree at the University of Bedfordshire, the University of Luton, or DMU's Bedford campus. If you graduated before 2005, you may need to show proof.
- What you study next: You are starting or returning to a postgraduate course on campus, full time or part time, and you meet its academic entry requirements.
- Grades for a taught master's (MSc/MA): At least a 2:2 in your undergraduate degree in a relevant subject.
- Grades for research (PhD/MPhil): At least a 2:1 in your undergraduate degree, or a master's degree in a relevant subject.
- Timing: You move straight from your undergraduate studies, or return to postgraduate study, in the 2025/26 academic year.
- Nationality: You are a UK student. International students cannot get this award.
- Money owed: You have no outstanding debts with the university.
- Courses not covered: This excludes professional qualifying courses, PGCE teacher training, the Master's in Social Work and the Master's in Nursing, which have their own funding.
How to apply
You do not fill in a separate scholarship form. You apply for your postgraduate course through the university's online applicant portal, ideally at least 30 days before the course starts. The admissions team checks whether you qualify before you enrol, and the finance team applies the discount at enrolment.
How realistic are your chances?
This is not a competitive award. It is a fixed discount for anyone who fits the rules, so there is no limit on places. If you hold a Bachelor Honours degree from Bedfordshire, Luton or DMU Bedford, meet the grade threshold for your course, and owe the university nothing, you get the 20% reduction. Apply for your course in good time so the discount is confirmed before you enrol.
