Our editorial standards

Every page on European Funding Guide is meant to help someone decide how to pay for their studies. This page says what has to be true of a page before we publish it, and what we do when a page stops meeting that bar. It is the standard our editorial team is held to, and it is the standard you can hold us to.

Scholarship profiles

A scholarship profile describes one funding programme. Before it is published:

Every fact is checked against the awarding body’s own published materials — never against another aggregator.
The profile states the funding amount, the application deadline, who is eligible, the awarding institution and a link to the official programme page. These are visible on the page, not hidden in a database.
The profile explains, in its own words, what the programme offers and how to apply. A name and a link is not a profile.
The page carries the date its facts were last checked, and that date is shown to you.

Profiles are re-checked on a rolling schedule. When a programme changes its terms, we correct the profile; when it ends, we say so or remove the page. A profile whose facts we can no longer vouch for does not stay in search results.

Guides

Our guides cover scholarships, public funding programmes, student finance and ways to earn alongside your studies. Before a guide is published:

It carries a named author with a real profile page, who researched or reviewed what appears under their name. A byline here is a statement of responsibility, not decoration.
Where the topic calls for first-hand evidence, we produce it ourselves: our own account, our own test, our own screenshots. Stock photography is not evidence, and we do not present it as such.
Where we compare providers or options, the guide explains how we tested — what we did, over what period, and what the outcome was.
Where we have not tested something ourselves, we say so plainly and date the research instead of implying an experience we did not have.
Where a guide contains partner links that earn us a commission, that is disclosed above the first such link, not buried in the footer.
The page carries a visible last-updated date.

Languages

We do not put machine-translated pages into search engines. A page published in a language is either written in that language or translated and then reviewed by a person competent in it. Automatically translated material may still be reachable on the site as a convenience, but it is excluded from search results.

Before anything is published

No page becomes publicly indexable without editorial review and sign-off by our Editor-in-Chief, Dr. Mira Maier, or a reviewer she has appointed. Sign-offs are recorded.

New guides are published at a measured pace, each one individually reviewed. We do not release them in batches, and we would rather publish one thorough page than three that overlap.

These conditions are also checked automatically by our publishing system. A page that does not meet them is kept out of search results regardless of who published it or when. The automatic check is a floor, not the standard — passing it is necessary, but editorial sign-off is still required.

When a page no longer meets this

It is corrected, merged into the page that covers the topic properly, or taken out of search results. Removed pages return a proper status code so that anyone — reader or search engine — can see what happened to them. This is a normal editorial outcome, not an exception.

Telling us we got something wrong

If a figure, a deadline or a programme rule on this site is out of date or wrong, please write to us at info@european-funding-guide.eu. Corrections are made on the page itself, and the last-checked date moves with them.
