What you get

You receive up to 17,500 EUR for one academic year (maximum 12 months) to do a master's degree at Erasmus University Rotterdam (EUR). The money covers your accommodation, living costs and the statutory tuition fee. At the Erasmus School of Economics, for example, you get a tuition-fee waiver plus 1,200 EUR per month for living costs (14,400 EUR over the year), a one-off allowance of 249 EUR and, if needed, a waiver of the 228 EUR immigration fee. The scholarship comes from the Erasmus Trustfonds, a foundation that supports education and research at EUR. You get it once and cannot extend it.

Who can apply

• Level: You are starting a full-time master's programme at EUR. Current EUR master students cannot apply.
• Faculty and field: Your programme must be at one of the participating schools: law, economics, social sciences, history and communication, health policy, management, philosophy or the medical centre. Some schools only fund specific master's programmes.
• Grades: You need a grade average of at least 7.5 to 8.0 on the Dutch 1-to-10 scale in your previous degree, depending on the school.
• Financial need: You cannot pay for your studies yourself and can prove your financial situation with documents.
• No Dutch master's yet: You have never been enrolled as a full master's student at a Dutch institution. A pre-master course at EUR is allowed.
• Nationality: This depends on the school. Some (such as history and communication, and management) accept only EEA nationals. Law is open to students from developing countries, both EU and non-EU. Economics accepts both EEA and non-EEA students.

How to apply

First register for your master's programme at EUR through Studielink. Then apply for the scholarship through your school's own process. The route and deadline differ per school: economics closes on 31 January 2026, management on 1 March 2026, and history and communication and law both on 1 April 2026. A scholarship committee reviews all applications after the deadline and tells you the decision in writing.

How realistic are your chances?

Each school offers only a handful of these scholarships (law has 4 and history and communication just 1), and the schools say applications regularly outnumber the places. So competition is real. Your prospects improve if you clearly meet the grade bar for your school, fit its programme and nationality rules, and can prove genuine financial need. Meeting the minimum criteria alone gives you no automatic right to the award.
