Fulbright/UCL School of Management Award

You get a monthly living allowance of about 2,236 GBP (around 2,600 EUR) for 10 months, plus a full waiver of your first-year tuition at the UCL School of Management in London. The award also covers your international travel to and from the UK and gives you sickness and accident insurance. You get access to a 24/7 mental-health crisis line and to the global Fulbright alumni network. After your studies you keep 12 months of Non-Competitive Eligibility, a status that makes it easier to be hired into US federal government jobs. The programme is run jointly by the Fulbright US Student Program and the UCL School of Management. It funds any of the school's one-year, full-time MSc programmes at the Canary Wharf campus, including Business Analytics, Finance, Management, Marketing Science, Entrepreneurship and Digital Innovation.

Who can apply

• Nationality: You are a US citizen. Dual US-UK citizens can also apply.
• Degree: You hold at least a Bachelor's degree, or equivalent professional experience, before you leave for the UK.
• Programme: You are applying to a full-time, in-person MSc at the UCL School of Management. Part-time and distance-learning courses do not qualify.
• No recent UK life: You have not lived in the UK in the year before the award, and you have no extensive UK experience of six months or more. Undergraduate study abroad in the UK does not count against you.
• No existing PhD or medical degree: You do not already hold a doctorate when the grant starts. Medical degrees, including internships and residencies, are not eligible.
• Little prior UCL time: If you have already spent time at UCL, you are at a disadvantage.

How to apply

You submit two applications at the same time: the Fulbright online application (choose "UCL School of Management" from the award drop-down) and a separate postgraduate application directly to UCL. A video interview with the UCL School of Management is part of the selection. The deadline for the 2027-2028 round is 6 October 2026 at 5 p.m. Eastern Time. You do not need a UCL admission offer to apply, but the award only goes ahead if you are admitted before you start.

How realistic are your chances?

This award is cut narrowly. It is only for US citizens entering one specific London business school, with strict rules against recent UK experience, so the eligible pool is smaller than for open Fulbright awards. If you clearly fit those conditions, have strong academic or professional results, and can explain a convincing reason to study business in the UK, your prospects are solid. Note that a positive nomination still needs final sign-off from the Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board, so nothing is guaranteed.
