General Description

The HSBC Scholarship is funded jointly by HSBC and the University College London to provide tuition-fee funding for UK students from low-income households, specifically those students who are joining UCL from schools in the state-funded secondary sector. A total of five scholarships will be awarded each year, with preference for students with a parental income between £25,000 and £50,000. The five selected recipients will be awarded £9,000 per year for a maximum of three years, subject to satisfactory academic achievement. The scholarship is given with the intention to cover tuition fees of £5,000 and maintenance fees of £4,000, paid in equal termly installments. Applicants should note that all scholarship and student-funding schemes are subject to availability of funds, and these details provided are subject to change at any time. Applicants are also urged to check information regularly to ensure awareness of current procedures, deadlines, etc. The selected candidate will be notified as soon as possible once a decision has been made.

Requirements

To be eligible for this scholarship, you must: be a UK student entering the first year of your programme; hold an offer of admission to study at UCL for any full-time undergraduate degree programme; be joining UCL from a state-funded secondary school, based on UCAS data; and show a financial need. Chosen candidates will be required to fill out and return an award-acceptance form issued by HSBC, as well as attend an annual presentation ceremony in London.
