About this grant / loan

What you get

You will receive direct financial assistance from the Nathalie Todenhöfer Foundation in Munich if you are living with multiple sclerosis (MS) and find yourself in a situation of financial hardship through no fault of your own. The amount of assistance is not fixed. It is based on your actual needs, with no set minimum or maximum amount. The assistance is intended to fund specific measures that make everyday life easier. Examples include: adapting a flat to make it wheelchair-accessible; funding care for the seriously ill; funding a recuperative holiday; covering the costs of therapies such as equine-assisted therapy (hippotherapy); or helping to fulfil a small personal dream. The foundation was established by Nathalie Todenhöfer, who has been living with MS since 2004, and her family. It works closely with the German Multiple Sclerosis Society (DMSG).

Who can apply

  • Diagnosis: A doctor has confirmed that you have multiple sclerosis.
  • Hardship: You are facing a financial or emotional crisis that is not of your own making.
  • Last resort: State benefits and other charitable organisations cannot meet your needs, or do not meet them sufficiently.
  • Who you are: You are a private individual resident in Germany. This applies throughout the country.
  • Age and status: Any age can apply. You do not need to be a student. This is general life support, not an academic scholarship.

How to apply

You can apply at any time, as there is no fixed application deadline. Further details can be found on the Foundation’s website. The Foundation bases its decision on the severity of your situation and the urgency of your need for assistance.
