Incentive Prize (Prémio Incentivo) of the University of Porto

At the University of Porto, you will receive a one-time cash prize equal to one year's tuition fee for national students, which is usually between 700 and 1,100 euros, depending on your year of study. It is paid as a one-off sum, not monthly, and recognises your achievements in your first year of study. The University of Porto awards the prize to the best first-year students across all 15 faculties. The award ceremony takes place as part of the University Day celebrations on 22 March.

Who can apply

• University: You are studying at the University of Porto in one of its 15 faculties.
• Degree: You are enrolled on a Bachelor’s degree programme (Licenciatura) or an integrated Master’s degree programme (Mestrado Integrado).
• Field of study: Open to all subjects.
• Study phase: You have passed all the modules scheduled for your first year of study.
• Grades: In your first year of study, you achieved a weighted average of at least 15 out of a total of 20, calculated on the basis of ECTS credits without rounding.
• Nationality: Any nationality can apply.
• Tie-breaker: If two students tie, the one with the lower university entry grade wins. If they still tie, the younger student is chosen.

How to apply

No application is required. Each faculty automatically selects its award winners based on the achievements of its best first-year students, so you do not need to submit any documents. The award is presented in your second year of study in recognition of your achievements in your first year, and will be presented during the University Day celebrations on 22 March.
