About this scholarship
Catholic Lisbon Merit Awards
Depending on your grades, you will receive a merit-based discount on your tuition fees, up to 100%. The highest level, the ‘Top Talent’ scholarship, covers 100% of the tuition fees for all 3 years of a Bachelor’s degree. By way of comparison: tuition fees amount to approximately 7,410 EUR per year for EU students and approximately 8,580 EUR per year for non-EU students. A full waiver is therefore worth roughly this amount each year. More than half of all Bachelor’s students here receive one of these grants. The funding comes from the university’s alumni and friends. The grants are awarded by the Católica-Lisbon School of Business & Economics (CLSBE), a faculty of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa in Lisbon.
Who can apply
- Degree: You are about to start a Bachelor’s degree at CLSBE in the fields of Management or Economics, or on the international Bachelor’s programme in Business Administration, or you are already studying there.
- Grades (new students): Your grant is calculated based equally on your average mark in the upper secondary school and your maths exam mark. If your overall mark is above 18 out of 20, you will receive the full 3-year Top Talent Scholarship. The thresholds for the individual performance levels are announced each year alongside the admission results and are subject to change.
- Grades (continuing students): In your 2 and 3 academic years, you can secure or retain a scholarship based on your CLSBE results, even if you did not have one at the start. To retain the ‘Top Talent’ award, you must have obtained at least 14.5 out of 20 and 58.5 ECTS credits after the first year, and at least 15.0 out of 20 and 117 ECTS credits after the second year.
- Age: You started your degree at the age of 21 or younger.
- Nationality: Any nationality can apply.
- Financial need: None required. These awards are based solely on marks.
How to apply
There is no separate scholarship form. You apply for the bachelor's programme through Universidade Católica Portuguesa. Your merit scholarship is then decided automatically when your admission result comes through. Applications run in rounds, with a deadline of 11 August.
How realistic are your chances?
In the 2025/26 intake, 127 of the approximately 400 students admitted received a merit-based scholarship – that is more than 30%. Of these, 23 received the full 3-year ‘Top Talent’ scholarship.
