Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities (FCSH) Excellence Prize

You receive a cash prize of 250 EUR plus a diploma, handed over at a public ceremony each year on NOVA Day. The prize goes to the top graduate of each bachelor's degree (licenciatura) at the Faculdade de Ciências Sociais e Humanas (NOVA FCSH) of the Universidade Nova de Lisboa. The faculty's director sets the amount each year, so it can change from one year to the next.

Who can apply

• Degree: You have obtained a Bachelor’s degree (Licenciatura) from NOVA FCSH.
• Where you studied: You completed your entire degree at NOVA FCSH.
• On time: You have completed your degree within the standard period of study, i.e. within the number of semesters officially allocated for it.
• Grades: Your final mark is at least 15.00 out of 20, and you are the graduate from your degree programme with the highest total marks this year. The mark corresponds to the ECTS-weighted average of all modules in your study programme.
• Field of study: Any bachelor’s degree programme offered by the Faculty in the fields of social sciences and the humanities.
• Nationality: All nationalities can apply.

How to apply

There is no application process. The Faculty’s Academic Registry identifies the students who have achieved the best results in each degree programme and awards the prize automatically. Every year, by 31 March, the prize winners are published in the faculty’s ‘Quadro de Honra’ (honours list).
