About this scholarship

Lusíada Merit Award

At Universidade Lusíada in Portugal, you will receive a cut in your annual tuition fee depending on your entry grade. If your entry grade is at least 160 points (on a scale of 0 to 200), your annual tuition fee will be reduced by 50%. If it is at least 140 points, the reduction will be 25%. The discount is awarded by Universidade Lusíada through its sponsoring organisation, Fundação Minerva. The discount applies for the entire duration of your studies, provided you meet the required academic standards each year (see below).

Who can apply

  • Degree level: You are starting a Bachelor’s degree (1 cycle) or an integrated Master’s programme at Universidade Lusíada for the first time.
  • How you get in: Admission is via the university’s own admissions procedure (concurso institucional de acceso).
  • Grades: Your score is at least 140 out of 200 points for the 25% hurdle, or at least 160 points for the 50% hurdle.
  • Jazz and Modern Music applicants: In addition to the mark mentioned above, you must achieve at least 16 out of 20 marks in the course’s entrance test (Prova de Aferição).
  • Field of study: Open to all degree programmes, with the exception of the Bachelor’s degree programme in Accounting (Contabilidade) at the Lusíada Norte campus in Vila Nova de Famalicão.
  • Nationality: All nationalities welcome.
  • Keeping the award: To keep it in later years you must pass at least 60 ECTS credits, reach an average of at least 14 out of 20 (for the 25% tier) or 16 out of 20 (for the 50% tier), and fail no course unit. If you lose it, you can win it back in a later year by meeting these conditions again.

How to apply

You do not need to submit a separate application. The discount is granted automatically if you are applying to the university for the first time as part of the admissions process and meet the required academic criteria.
