Lusophone University of Humanities and Technologies (Lisbon/Portugal) - Mobility grants for students - Erasmus

What you get

During your studies or work placement abroad, you will receive a monthly grant of approximately 500 EUR for a period of 2 to 12 months. The exact amount is determined by the Portuguese Erasmus+ National Agency and depends on the cost of living in your host country. The grant is available to students at Universidade Lusófona (Lisbon and Porto), Portugal’s largest private university, who spend one or two semesters at a partner university abroad. You will not be required to pay any tuition, examination or laboratory fees at the host university. Lusófona also grants you a reduction on your regular tuition fees during the exchange: students studying abroad receive a 70% reduction, interns a 50% reduction, and the two top-performing students per faculty (based on grades) receive a 100% reduction. You can also take part as a ‘Zero Grant’ student: you retain all your Erasmus+ entitlements, but do not receive a monthly grant.

Who can apply

• University: You are studying at the Universidade Lusófona in Lisbon or Porto.
• Level: Any level of study is permitted: short-cycle degree (CTESP), Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD.
• Field of study: All degree programmes are open to you. Which countries and universities are suitable for you depends on the exchange agreements in place for your degree programme. Please therefore check with your degree programme’s mobility coordinator first.
• Nationality: Any nationality can apply.
• Where you go: You are studying or undertaking an internship at a partner university abroad, not in Portugal.
• Language: If your stay is 14 days or longer, please complete a free online language test (OLS) in the language of your host country before applying.

How to apply

First, agree on a study plan (Learning Agreement) with the mobility coordinator for your degree programme. You should then apply online via the ‘Mobilidade Net’ platform. For 2026/27, the application deadlines for the first semester are 31 December 2025 and 31 January 2026; the application deadlines for the second semester are 30 June and 31 July 2026. Your coordinator and the Mobility Office will review your application and decide on your admission.

How realistic are your chances?

Only students who are already enrolled at Universidade Lusófona can apply, so you won’t be competing with the general public. Erasmus+ is a large, well-funded programme. The biggest hurdle is whether your degree programme has an agreement with a university where you’d like to study. If you’ve found a suitable host university and submit a well-thought-out study plan and a letter of motivation in good time, your chances are good.
