About this scholarship
Erasmus+ mobility grant at ISPA
You get around 500 EUR per month towards the extra living costs of studying or doing an internship abroad. The grant runs for the length of your stay, between 3 and 12 months, and is paid straight to your bank account. It comes from EU and Portuguese funds through the Erasmus+ programme. The exact monthly rate depends on the country you go to, because Erasmus+ pays more for expensive destinations and less for cheaper ones. This is a supplement, not a full scholarship: it helps with the extra costs of living abroad and does not cover everything.
If you also receive a national social grant from the Direcção-Geral do Ensino Superior (DGES), you will continue to receive the full amount of this grant during your stay abroad and will also receive an additional 100 EUR or 150 EUR per month, depending on the amount of your national grant. Please inform the International Office of this so that this top-up can be arranged.
Who can apply
- University: You are enrolled as a full-time student on a degree programme at the ISPA (Instituto Universitario) in Lisbon.
- Study phase: You have completed your first year and can now progress to at least the second year.
- Field of study: Any subject taught at the ISPA is eligible.
- Nationality: You are from Portugal or another EU country, or you are enrolled at a higher education institution in Portugal.
- No previous Erasmus: You have not yet taken part in the Erasmus programme and are not currently receiving any other EU funding.
- Destination: You will be going to a partner university or an internship provider in the EU, the EEA or a candidate country that has signed an Erasmus agreement with ISPA.
- Length of stay: You will spend between 3 and 12 months abroad and sign an agreement to ensure that your studies are fully recognised upon your return.
How to apply
You apply online through the form on the Academic Mobility Unit (UMA) website during the application window, from 11 to 27 February. List three preferred host institutions and your reasons for the exchange. An online information session is held on 11 February, provisional results come out on 10 March, and the final placement list is published on 19 March.
Applicants are assessed on the basis of their average mark for the most recently completed semester, the proportion of credit points successfully earned, and their reasons for studying abroad.
