About this scholarship

Benefit

You receive a yearly scholarship from the Municipality of Odemira (Camara Municipal de Odemira) if you live in the municipality and study at a public university elsewhere in Portugal. The amount depends on your household income. You get 3,000 EUR per year (Escalao A) if your household has a lower income, or 1,500 EUR per year (Escalao B) if it has a middle income. The income limits use the Social Support Index (IAS), a Portuguese reference figure updated each year. Escalao A covers households earning up to 90% of the IAS per person each month; Escalao B up to 150%.

Eligibility

  • Where you live: You and your household have been living in Odemira for more than 1 years and pay tax there.
  • Where you study: You are attending a public university outside the municipality of Odemira.
  • Field of study: All subjects are open.
  • Nationality: Applicants of any nationality may apply, provided they meet the residence requirements.
  • No earlier equivalent degree: You do not yet hold a qualification at the level you are currently working towards.
  • Financial need: Your household’s monthly income is no more than 150% of the IAS per person. On 31 December of the previous year, your household’s savings and assets were less than 240 times the IAS.
  • University scholarship applied for: You have applied for a scholarship at your own university, and your application has been accepted for consideration.
  • Taxes in order: Your tax and social security contributions are up to date.
  • Grades: You are making satisfactory academic progress.

The same timeframe applies to both new applications and renewals.
