Erasmus mobility grant at ISPA Lisbon

You will receive a monthly grant of approximately 500 EUR to enable you to complete part of your degree or an internship at a partner university abroad. The duration is 3 to 12 months. The grant is supplemented by EU and national funding. It helps with the additional living costs abroad, so it does not cover all costs. The ISPA (Instituto Universitário) in Lisbon pays it out as part of the EU’s Erasmus+ programme. If you are already receiving national social assistance from the Portuguese DGES, you will continue to receive this in full during your stay abroad and will also receive a monthly supplement.

Who can apply

• Where you study: You are enrolled as a full-time student at ISPA (Instituto Universitário) in Lisbon on a course leading to a recognised qualification.
• Study stage: You have completed your first year of study and are therefore eligible to progress to at least the second year.
• Nationality: You are from Portugal or another EU country, or you are enrolled at a higher education institution in Portugal.
• Field of study: Open to all subjects.
• No repeats: You have not yet received any Erasmus funding and are not currently receiving any other funding under an EU programme.
• Destination: You are visiting a partner institution in the EU, the EEA or an EU candidate country that has signed an Erasmus agreement with ISPA.
• Recognition: You will sign a learning agreement that has been agreed with ISPA and ensures that the credits earned abroad are fully recognised towards your degree.

How to apply

Please apply via the online form on the Department of Academic Mobility’s website. The application period runs from 11 to 27 February. The provisional results will be published on 10 March, and the final placement list on 19 March. Applicants will be ranked first according to their current grade point average, then according to the proportion of ECTS credits they have already earned, and finally according to their reasons for studying abroad.

How realistic are your chances?

As only ISPA students are eligible to apply, the pool of applicants is limited to one institution. The allocation of places continues to depend on the number of partnership agreements and the available funding. The ranking is based primarily on your grade point average and the credits you have earned, so good results are crucial. If your grades are solid and you apply during the application period in February, your chances are good.
