Celorico da Beira Municipality - Higher Education Scholarship for students living in Celorico da Beira

What you get

You will receive 75 EUR per month from the municipality of Celorico da Beira (Câmara Municipal de Celorico da Beira) as financial support for your studies at a public higher education institution in Portugal. The grant covers the period from 10 months per academic year (from 1 October to 31 July) and will be paid directly into your bank account. It is intended to cover the costs of accommodation, meals, transport, study materials and tuition fees. If you are studying on the Portuguese mainland, you will also receive a travel allowance for up to 2 return journeys per month. For 2026/2027, the local authority grants 40 scholarships. You must reapply each year; there is no automatic renewal.

Who can apply

• Where you study: You are enrolled for the coming year at a public higher education institution in Portugal.
• First degree: You do not yet hold a Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent qualification.
• Progress: You are starting higher education for the first time, or you passed your previous academic year.
• Where you live: You live in the municipality of Celorico da Beira.
• Nationality: You are Portuguese or are legally entitled to reside in Portugal.
• Age: You are 25 years old or younger.
• Field of study: Any topic is allowed.
• Financial need: Your household’s monthly per capita income does not exceed the national minimum wage. The lower your per capita income, the higher your ranking.

How to apply

You can apply for 2026/2027 between 19 October and 6 November 2026. You can apply in person at the town hall counter (Balcao Unico do Municipio) or by email. The Education Department will draw up a ranking list of applicants based on household per capita income, and the local council will make the final decision. You will be notified of the result by email.
