Tábua Municipality - Higher Education Scholarship for students living in Tábua

What you get

You will receive a monthly grant of 50 to 100 EUR, paid over 10 months per academic year, to fund your higher education. The exact amount depends on your household income, which is calculated using the IAS (Indexante dos Apoios Sociais), a Portuguese reference value used to determine social benefits. There are three income brackets, based on the income per household member: 100 EUR per month if this income is 40% of the IAS or less, 75 EUR up to 60%, and 50 EUR up to 80%. The funds are provided by Tábua Town Council (Câmara Municipal de Tábua).

Who can apply

• Where you live: You have been living in the Concelho de Tábua for over a year.
• Nationality: You are a Portuguese national or have an equivalent legal status.
• Age: You are no older than 25.
• Enrolment: You are enrolled at a recognised higher education institution.
• Field of study: Any topic is allowed.
• No earlier qualification: You do not yet hold a qualification at the same level or a higher level than the one you are currently aiming for.
• Results: You have passed the previous academic year. If you have failed due to a prolonged illness or a similar, verifiable circumstance, you may still apply.
• Financial need: Your household income per person is 80% of the IAS per month or less.

How to apply

Complete the local authority application form, which is available from Ação Social (Social Services) or on the Tábua local authority website. Submit it, together with the required documents, in person at the Balcão Único or by email. The application period runs each year from 15 September to 15 October. If any documents are missing, you will have 10 days to submit them after receiving a single request to do so.
