University of Beira Interior - Social Fund for students with financial problems

What you get

You are eligible for financial support if you are studying at the University of Beira Interior (UBI) in Covilhã, Portugal, and are unable to cover the costs of your studies yourself. The amount of support is not fixed in advance. It depends on how much help you need and what type of support you are granted. The fund may contribute towards your tuition fees (propinas) or towards basic living costs such as accommodation, food and healthcare. In some cases, the support is linked to paid work within a department or service at UBI, tailored to your skills and availability. The fund is administered by the University’s Social Services (SASUBI) and is financed from the university’s own resources, donations and charity sales.

Who can apply

• University: You are enrolled in a course at the University of Beira Interior.
• Financial need: You can prove that you are unable to finance your studies entirely yourself.
• No double funding: The public state student grant (bolsa de ação social escolar) does not already cover your situation.
• Field of study: Any subject.
• Nationality: Any nationality can apply.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted using the form available at the virtual counter (balcão virtual) of the Student Administration Office. For the academic year 2025/2026, you can apply from 4 September 2025 until 31 March 2026.
