General Description

The Salvador de Madariaga Scholarship for the European University Institute in Florence are sponsored by the Government of Spain-Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport. The scholarships are meant to support doctorate study in the following fields: Humanities, Social Science, Law, Economics, and Political Sciences. There are 8 scholarships available. The maximum length of the scholarship is 48 months. During the first 24 months each scholarship will consist of €1.400 per month. During the second 24 months the amount will be €1.500 per month. The scholarship also includes €700 to cover travel expenses.

Requirements

The applicants must be Spanish nationals. Or they must be European Union citizens with Spanish residency and excellent command of the Spanish language. The applicants must have a postgraduate degree in one of the relevant fields. This degree must have been obtained after the 1st of January 2005. The applicant must be younger than 35 years old. The applicant must be a fluent speaker of at least two official European languages, with preference for English and French. The applicant is not allowed to have been receiving research funds for more than a year.
