About this scholarship

What the scholarship gives

This is a Danish family endowment fund (Legat) which awards grants to members of two specific families. The money may be used for studies, travel or stays abroad, the education of widows’ children up to the age of 21, or as assistance in the event of illness, hospitalisation or convalescence. The amount of the grants is not disclosed. The fund was established in memory of Lauritz Schiøttz-Christensen, the long-serving editor-in-chief of the Aalborg newspaper ‘Aalborg Stiftstidende’, and his wife Thora.

Who can apply

  • Family descent: This is the only requirement that determines everything. You must be a descendant of the goldsmith P.C. Christensen and his wife Hanne (née Schiøttz) or of the solicitor Ludvig Krabbe and his wife Anna (née Herskind).
  • Field of study: Open to all subjects.
  • University: Open to students at any university.
  • Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities are welcome to apply, provided they belong to one of the two families.
  • Who else is covered: Besides students, support can go to widows from the named families, to their children for education up to age 21, and to family members facing illness or recovery.

How to apply

You should submit your application in writing to the foundation. There is no online form. The foundation’s call for applications is published in the newspaper *Nordjyske Stiftstidende*. The deadline is given as 20 March, although the exact procedure and timetable are not yet clear.
