General Description

The Heinrich Böll Foundation awards scholarships to talented high school seniors, high school graduates and students from immigrant families who want to be a reporter / journalist. The scholarship is for youth development and students with immigrant backgrounds, and provides them with the opportunity to prepare for their careers. The scholarship provides financial support in addition to a comprehensive course-related training program to promote small-scale, media policy, journalism and social skills. In addition, internships at various media partners, thematic workshops, seminars and study trips are made possible abroad. The financial support is dependent on the income of the parents.

Requirements

The scholarship is aimed at talented high school seniors who want to be journalists/reporters and are seeking to pursue a bachelor's or master's degree. The application is available before commencement of study to and including the 3rd term. Besides journalism promoting other courses is possible. Prerequisites for promotion are excellent school or academic achievements and the first experience in media work (for example, student or student newspapers, in Citizen Radio). Applicants must bring social and political interest and support the objectives of the Heinrich Böll Foundation. Creativity, self-reflectivity, gender sensitivity and intercultural competence are also expected by the fellow. The promotion is aimed at high school graduates as well as students from immigrant families or with bi-national and bi-cultural backgrounds.
