About this scholarship

ArcelorMittal Duisburg study support

You will receive up to 500 EUR per month for 10 months a year, over a funding period of up to 36 months. Your tuition fees will also be reimbursed. In addition to this remuneration, you can undertake work placements and holiday jobs at the plant during your term breaks. You can also write your Bachelor’s, Master’s or diploma thesis at the company. The support is provided by ArcelorMittal in Duisburg, a steel manufacturer that has been producing long steel there for over 150 years.

Who can apply

  • Degree: You are studying for a Bachelor’s, Master’s or Diplom degree.
  • Field of study: A subject in the natural sciences or engineering. Preference is given to metallurgy (the study of metals), metal forming, materials science, mechanical engineering and electrical engineering.
  • Where you study: You are enrolled at a German university or university of applied sciences.
  • Interest: You’re genuinely interested in steel as a material.
  • Grades: At the very least, you’re getting good results at school or university.
  • Nationality: All nationalities can apply.

How to apply

You can apply by email at any time, as there is no fixed application deadline. Please send us a covering letter, your CV, your school leaving certificate and evidence of any work experience placements or other activities. If your application is successful, a face-to-face interview will determine whether you are offered the position.

How realistic are your chances?

This funding programme is narrowly defined: it is aimed at students of natural sciences and engineering who are linked to a specific company and its focus on the steel sector, meaning that the pool of applicants is small. If you are studying one of the preferred subjects, have good grades and demonstrate a genuine interest in the steel sector, your chances are good. As there is no fixed application deadline, it is advisable to apply early and clearly demonstrate your motivation.
