About this scholarship
Brazil-Spain mobility grant (Fundación Carolina)
You will receive 1,200 EUR per month for a research stay lasting between one and three months. If you are from Brazil, you will travel to Spain; if you are from Spain, you will travel to Brazil. You will also receive a return economy-class flight between the two countries. The Fundación Carolina administers the scholarship with the aim of fostering academic links between Brazilian and Spanish universities. It funds a specific research stay: to complete your studies, to update your knowledge, to establish contacts with other research groups, or to gather material you need for your work. The costs of local transport within the country are not covered.
Who can apply
- Who you are: You are a university lecturer, researcher or PhD student who is already in the research phase of your PhD.
- Nationality: You are a Brazilian or Spanish national. The grant applies in both directions.
- Field of study: Any subject.
- Purpose of the stay: You must be able to demonstrate that the visit is necessary for your research. A visit undertaken solely for the purpose of attending a conference, a seminar or a summer school is not sufficient.
How to apply
Applications must be submitted online via the Fundación Carolina portal. You will need to create an account and provide evidence that the stay is necessary. The application deadline is 3 April, and you will be notified of the result by the end of July.
How realistic are your chances?
This scholarship is highly selective: only lecturers, researchers and PhD students who are Brazilian or Spanish nationals and can demonstrate a specific research visit are eligible. This keeps the pool of applicants small. If you meet these criteria and submit a clear, well-reasoned research proposal, your chances are good. As only a handful of scholarships are awarded per round, a convincing explanation of why the research stay is important is crucial to setting yourself apart from other applicants.
