Dr. Kolb'sche Familienstipendienstiftung scholarship

You will receive an annual grant to help cover your school or university fees. There is no fixed amount. The foundation pays out the interest generated by its assets each year, so the amount varies from year to year. The city of Straubing in Bavaria administers the scholarship, and you can renew it for further years. It supports talented and hard-working students and older pupils who are unable to finance their education entirely themselves.

Who can apply

• Level: You are a university student or a sixth-form pupil.
• Field of study: Any subject.
• Financial need: You are unable to cover the full cost of your education yourself.
• Ability: You are talented and hard-working.
• Family or place: Priority is given to relatives of Dr Karl Johann Kolb or his sister Franziska Kolb. If no suitable relatives apply, the scholarship will be awarded to other applicants, particularly those from Straubing.

How to apply

Please submit a written application to the City of Straubing’s Foundation Office. The deadline is 31 October each year. Applications received after this date will not be considered. The City Council’s Foundation Committee decides on the award of the prize.

How realistic are your chances?

This scholarship is aimed at a very small group of people. Priority is given to descendants of the Kolb family, and only if none of them apply will local students from Straubing be considered. If you are a relative or a talented student from Straubing who can demonstrate a genuine financial need, you will face very little competition and your prospects are good. Please note that the amount of the scholarship may vary, as the payment depends on the interest income for the year in question.
