About this scholarship
Benefit
You receive EUR 4,000 for one semester in South Korea (up to 4 months). Spend it however you need: tuition, living costs, travel, or any mix. South Korea's Ministry of Education funds the programme; the ASEM-DUO Secretariat in Seoul runs it.
One structural point matters here: you are funded as part of a matched pair. Your European university sends you to a Korean partner university, and that Korean university simultaneously sends one of its students to your European university. Both exchanges must happen under an existing academic cooperation agreement between the two institutions.
Eligibility
- Country: You are enrolled at a university in one of 30 European countries (all EU member states plus Norway, Switzerland and the UK).
- Nationality: You hold citizenship of one of those 30 countries.
- Degree level: Bachelor's or master's students only.
- Field of study: All subjects welcome.
- Partner agreement: Your European university must already have a formal academic cooperation agreement with a Korean university that is willing to receive you and send a student back.
- Destination and timing: Your exchange goes to South Korea, starts no earlier than August 2026, and ends before August 2027.
- Where you are at application time: You must be physically in Europe during the spring 2026 application window, not already studying abroad.
- Other funding: You may not hold another government or institutional grant at the same time.
- Credits: Your exchange must cover at least 20 ECTS credits of academic coursework. Language or sports courses do not count toward this total.
How to apply
You cannot apply directly. The international office of the Korean partner university submits the joint application online at asemduo.org between 3 April and 20 May 2026. Start by contacting your own university's international office to confirm that a Korean partner is willing to nominate you. Results are announced by June 2026.
