Erasmus+ per Studio UE-Extra UE (UNIMORE)

What you get

You spend a study period abroad at one of UNIMORE's partner universities. You get a monthly grant, pay no tuition at the host university, and have everything you complete recognised towards your degree. A stay lasts from 2 to 12 months. The basic EU grant is:

• 350 EUR per month for high-cost countries (for example Austria, France, Germany, Ireland or the Nordic countries).
• 300 EUR per month for medium- and lower-cost countries (for example Spain, Portugal, Poland or Turkey).
• 700 EUR per month for other non-EU destinations.

Several add-ons can raise this. You may get a means-tested ministerial grant ("Fondo Giovani", based on your ISEE household income indicator). You get an extra 250 EUR per month if you have fewer opportunities, for example on a low income, with a disability, as a refugee, a working student or a lone parent. There is also a travel grant for far-off and non-EU destinations, plus extra support for special needs. PhD students can do short stays of 5 to 30 days, paid 79 EUR per day for the first two weeks and 56 EUR per day after that. UNIMORE also insures you during your stay. The money comes from the EU's Erasmus+ programme and is paid through UNIMORE.

Who can apply

• Where you study: You are enrolled at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia (UNIMORE).
• Level: You are a bachelor's, master's, single-cycle master's or PhD student. Short stays are for PhD students only.
• Field of study: Open to all subjects, based on your department's exchange agreements.
• Time still available: You have not used up your Erasmus time for this study cycle (max. 12 months, or 24 for single-cycle degrees).
• Language: You can prove you meet the host university's required language level, for example with a UNIMORE language exam, an international certificate or an earlier stay abroad.
• No double funding: You are not getting another EU or university grant for the same period.

How to apply

You apply online through the UNIMORE student portal (Esse3). You list up to 5 preferred host universities, or up to 10 for the Marco Biagi economics department. A coordinating professor or a departmental committee then selects candidates. They look at how well your planned study fits your degree, your academic record and your language skills, and sometimes a short motivation interview.

How realistic are your chances?

This is only open to UNIMORE students, so you compete within your own department for its partner places, not against a nationwide pool. Places and grades matter, and a study plan that clearly matches the host university's offer helps you. If you already meet the language level and rank your destinations sensibly, your prospects are good. If you miss out at first, a later ranking-list round can still bring you a place.
