About this scholarship

George David Family Scholarship

For a one-year Master’s degree in Law at the University of Edinburgh in the United Kingdom, you will receive approximately 9,300 EUR (£8,000). This amount will initially be applied towards your tuition fees. The remaining balance will be paid to you as a contribution towards your living costs. Every year, the University of Edinburgh awards two of these scholarships, which are named after former student George David. If you are studying part-time, the amount will be reduced accordingly.

Who can apply

  • Where you live: You are resident in Greece or Cyprus at the time of applying.
  • Subject and level: You are starting a Master’s degree in Law at the University of Edinburgh, either as a taught programme or as a research Master’s.
  • New students only: You have not yet started your degree programme. You cannot apply if you are already enrolled, if you are studying part-time with breaks, or if you are studying online via a distance-learning programme.
  • Grades: You hold, or are expected to obtain, a UK First-Class degree or a 2:1 honours degree, or an equivalent qualification from another country.
  • Selection: Places are allocated on the basis of marks and academic performance.

How to apply

First, apply for admission to the University of Edinburgh. Then complete the online scholarship application form via the university’s MyEd portal. The deadline is 27 June. A selection panel will choose the scholarship recipients, and all applicants will be informed of the outcome.

How realistic are your chances?

Only two scholarships are awarded, so competition is fierce. However, the eligibility criteria are quite strict: you must live in Greece or Cyprus and be starting a Master’s degree in law at a specific university. This keeps the number of applicants low. If you clearly meet these criteria and have good grades, your chances are good.
