CRILCQ (Quebec) - Jean-Cléo Godin Fellowship

Benefit

You will receive a one-off grant of about 4,620 EUR (7,000 CAD) for a research stay of at least two months in Québec, Canada. You will spend this time at the CRILCQ, a research centre for Québec literature and culture at the Université de Montréal, and at partner universities. There, you will develop a new university course on the literature and culture of Québec. You will also take part in the centre’s seminars and conferences. The scholarship is awarded by the CRILCQ and the Association internationale des études québécoises (AIEQ), an international network for Québec studies.

Eligibility

• Your job: You teach at a higher education institution (university of applied sciences, university or similar) outside Québec. Full professors holding a tenured chair or a permanent post are not eligible to apply.
• Membership: You are a member of the AIEQ.
• Your plan: You will spend at least two months in Quebec during the academic year following the award of the scholarship.
• Your course: You can provide evidence that you have been offered a place on a degree programme offered by a recognised higher education institution outside Québec.
• Your field: Your work focuses on the literature and culture of Quebec.
• Nationality: Applicants of any nationality may apply, provided they are teaching outside Québec and meet Canadian immigration requirements.

Please email your application as a single PDF file to the CRILCQ Coordination Team and the AIEQ. The deadline for applications is 28 May 2026. A panel will then decide who will receive the grant.

How realistic are your chances?

This grant is very narrowly defined. You must be teaching at a higher education institution outside Québec, be a member of the AIEQ, and have already been assigned a course on Québec literature. This leaves only a small group of eligible applicants. If you clearly meet this profile and can provide evidence of the course assignment, your chances are good.
