Occupational Safety and Health Fund - Scholarship

What you get

JSBE - the business and economics faculty of the University of Jyväskylä in Finland - pays a cash grant directly into your bank account to cover a short, intensive phase of doctoral work. No fixed amount is specified. The grant can help you get started right after admission, push through to your dissertation finish line, or fund an intensive block if you study part-time. Because a full doctorate at Jyväskylä typically requires more than one funding source, this grant is usually combined with money from Finnish foundations or other external funders. As a grant holder you are not a university employee, but you do belong to the university's research community and can use its facilities and services.

Eligibility

• Level: You are working towards a doctorate (Doctor of Science in Economics and Business Administration).
• Programme: You are enrolled in, or currently applying to, a doctoral programme at JSBE, University of Jyväskylä.
• Field: Your research falls within business studies (accounting, corporate finance, corporate communication, environmental management, management and leadership, marketing, or strategy and entrepreneurship) or economics and finance (empirical microeconomics, international macroeconomics or finance).
• Nationality: All nationalities are welcome.
• Previous funding: You have not previously held a paid doctoral researcher contract at JSBE to carry out your dissertation research. If you have, you are not eligible.
• Supervisor: Your supervisor must submit a reference letter as part of your application.

How to apply

JSBE runs two rounds a year, with deadlines on 1 February and 1 September. Apply through an online form; links are published on the JSBE doctoral funding page. The faculty's research committee reviews all submissions, weighing the quality of your application, your progress, and assessments from your department head and supervisor.
