About this scholarship
Lazio DiSCo Right to Study scholarship
You get a yearly grant worth about 2,290 EUR to 6,571 EUR plus two free meals a day (worth around 600 EUR). How much you get depends on where you live while studying: students living far from their university get the most, and local students get less. Your family income also matters. It is measured by ISEE, Italy's official income indicator. If your ISEE is low, the amount rises to 115% of the base. Higher incomes drop to a 50% minimum. You can also get top-ups: +20% for women in STEM subjects, +20% if you are enrolled in two courses at once, and +10% if you have a recognised disability of 66% or more. The scholarship also gives you access to a place in a DiSCo student residence or subsidised housing, canteen meals, and a grant for study-abroad periods. It is run by DiSCo, the Lazio regional body for the right to study, and funded by the region, the state, the European Social Fund and NextGenerationEU.
Who can apply
- Where you study: You are enrolled for 2026/2027 at a recognised university or an art, music or dance academy (AFAM) in the Lazio region of Italy.
- Level: You are a bachelor's, master's, single-cycle master's, PhD or postgraduate student.
- Field of study: All subjects qualify.
- Nationality: All nationalities can apply.
- Income: Your family's ISEE is at or below 28,338.77 EUR. If you live or have income outside Italy, you use ISEEUP, the equivalent indicator for foreign households.
- Grades: First-year students qualify on income alone and prove their results later. Students in later years must have earned a minimum number of credits (CFU) for their course and year.
- No double funding: You have not already earned a degree at the same level, and you hold no other public or merit scholarship for the same academic year.
How to apply
You apply online in the reserved area (Area riservata) on the DiSCo website. Italian residents log in with SPID or CIE. International students without these register online, then get identified in person at an approved CAF tax-help centre. The first application phase runs from 10 June to 22 July 2026 (12:00). A correction phase runs from 30 July to 11 August 2026, after the provisional ranking appears on 29 July.
How realistic are your chances?
This is need-based aid, not a contest for a handful of places. Over 77,700 applications came in for this cycle. Everyone enrolled in Lazio who meets the credit rules and stays under the ISEE income ceiling has a real claim. If your income is clearly within the limit and you submit a complete, on-time application with the correct ISEE or ISEEUP, your prospects are good. Missing the strict income and document deadlines is the main reason people lose out, so file early.
