Lord Browne Scholarship in Public Service

You get full funding for a one-year Master of Public Policy (MPP) at the Blavatnik School of Government, University of Oxford. This covers the full course fees, about 63,000 EUR (£54,450) for the 2026-27 year, plus a fixed cash sum towards your living costs in Oxford. The scholarship was founded by Lord John Browne of Madingley, former head of BP, for future leaders in public service.

Who can apply

• Degree: You have an offer of a place on the one-year, full-time Master of Public Policy (MPP) at Oxford's Blavatnik School of Government.
• Public service record: You have worked in government, a public body or an organisation serving the wider community, and can show a lasting commitment to it.
• Academic and professional profile: You have strong grades and a strong work record.
• Nationality: Anyone can apply. Candidates from European countries are preferred.

How to apply

First apply for a place on the MPP through Oxford's standard graduate application. The deadline is usually in early January of the year before you start. Once you get an offer, you fill in the Blavatnik School scholarship questionnaire. It is sent to you within about a week and must be returned quickly. There is no separate application for the scholarship. All MPP applicants who hold an offer are considered automatically.
