Manchester Met Student Support Package

What you get

You get a non-repayable grant (money you never pay back) of about 900 EUR per year (750 GBP) if you study full time. It is paid in two equal instalments during the academic year. Part-time students get less, based on their credits: about 225 EUR for 30 credits, 450 EUR for 60 credits, or up to about 675 EUR for 90 credits (562.50 GBP). Manchester Metropolitan University pays it to help students from low-income households. You get it for every year of your course. If you live in university halls, it can be taken off your accommodation fees instead of paid to your bank account.

Who can apply

• Where you study: You study at Manchester Metropolitan University.
• When you started: You began your degree before 2025/26. New first-year students starting in 2025/26 or later cannot apply.
• Level: You are a UK undergraduate or a repeating foundation year student, paying the full tuition fee rate.
• Financial need: Your household income is 25,000 GBP per year or less.
• Nationality: You are a UK student with a Student Support Number from Student Finance (England, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland).
• Income check: You have applied online to Student Finance for an income assessment and agreed to share your household income with the university.

How to apply

There is no separate application to the university. When you apply online to Student Finance for an income-assessed maintenance loan, agree to share your household income with Manchester Met. The university then checks your eligibility automatically. It emails you in your first term to confirm and collect your bank details.

How realistic are your chances?

This is not a competitive award. If you meet the income limit and the other conditions, you get the grant automatically, with no selection panel to impress. The main things that can stop you are missing the income assessment or forgetting to agree to share your data with the university. Make sure you do both through Student Finance before term starts.
