About this scholarship

What you get

You get your full tuition fees paid plus a monthly living allowance for the 12-month MSc in Integrated Petroleum Geoscience (IPG). This is a one-year full-time master's that trains you for the energy industry. For Home/RUK students, tuition is around EUR 14,000 (GBP 11,900) in 2026/27, so the fee waiver alone is worth that much. The living allowance covers your day-to-day costs on top. Energy companies fund these scholarships directly. In the 2024 round, Equinor and Shell each provided one, so two students were funded that year.

Who can apply

  • Programme: You are applying for the MSc Integrated Petroleum Geoscience at the University of Aberdeen.
  • Admission: You have already applied for admission to that master's.
  • Where you live: You count as a Home/RUK student for fee purposes, which means you are based in the UK. International students cannot apply.
  • Start: You start the programme in September.

How to apply

You apply through the University of Aberdeen's scholarship portal once a round opens. In the 2024 cycle, the deadline was early May for a September start. The scholarship is not always open. It runs in rounds tied to each intake, so check whether it is currently accepting applications.

How realistic are your chances?

This award is cut very narrowly. It goes only to UK-based students on one specific master's at one university, and just one or two are given per year. That keeps the applicant pool small. If you are already admitted to the IPG programme and qualify as a Home/RUK student, you are in a strong position. Because so few are funded, apply as soon as the round opens.
