Oxford Australia Scholarship Fund

You will receive an annual scholarship of approximately 600 EUR to study for a Master’s degree at the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom. The exact amount depends on the funds available to the scholarship each year. Payments will be made throughout the duration of your studies, up to a maximum of three years. The scholarship is aimed at Australians undertaking a Master’s, an MPhil or a PhD at Oxford, and may also fund a second Bachelor’s degree there. It is a partial scholarship, meaning it covers part of your costs but not the full amount.

Who can apply

• Nationality and home: You are an Australian citizen and usually live in Australia.
• Degree so far: You hold a bachelor’s degree from an Australian university, which you completed with ‘First Class Honours’ or an equivalent top mark.
• First study abroad: This must be your first university degree obtained outside Australia. You are ineligible to apply if you have already studied abroad or obtained a degree there. A short exchange semester during your studies in Australia will not affect your application.
• Where you go: You are applying to study at the University of Oxford in the academic year 2026–27.
• Field of study: All subjects are available to choose from. Scholarships are awarded solely on the basis of academic merit.
• Oxford place: Before your funding is confirmed, you must have been admitted by the University of Oxford and – in the case of funding linked to a specific college – by that college as well.

How to apply

There are two steps. First, apply via the University of Oxford’s application process (and to the relevant college, if the scholarship is college-specific). Then, complete the Fund’s online form and provide the details of three referees, at least two of whom must be from the academic sector. The application deadline for the academic year 2026–27 is 23 February 2026 at 23:59 AEDT. Selection is based solely on your application documents; there will be no interview. You will be notified of the result in the second half of April 2026.

How realistic are your chances?

This scholarship is very restrictive. You must be an Australian citizen, hold a degree with ‘First Class Honours’, have never studied abroad, and have been offered a place at Oxford. This limits the pool of eligible candidates to a small group of top-performing students. Not all available scholarships are awarded every year, and some are tied to a specific college, so the range of scholarships on offer changes annually. If you clearly meet the top-grade requirements and secure your place at Oxford, your prospects look good.
