About this scholarship

Benefit

You will receive up to 2,500 EUR for a research project on the religion, culture or history of the Middle East. The money may be used to cover travel, living or material costs. This is a one-off grant for a single project, not a monthly payment. The grant is provided by the Ecumenical Foundation Jerusalem, a charitable foundation based in Bonn which supports academic work in connection with the Academic Year of Theology in Jerusalem.

Eligibility

  • Who it is for: You took part in the Jerusalem Theological Study Year as a student or lecturer. You can apply immediately after the study year or even decades later.
  • Your project: The work must be an academic study on religion, culture or history in the Middle East, for example in the fields of peace work, archaeology, ecumenism or interfaith dialogue.
  • Travel: Your project involves a stay in the Middle East, but not every part of it has to take place there.
  • Publishing: You agree to publish your results. A short version appears in the foundation's magazine 'Cardo'.
  • Presentation: You will present your project to this year’s cohort.
  • Nationality: Any nationality can apply.

How to apply

Please send a project description, a funding plan and your CV by post to the foundation in Bonn. There is no fixed application deadline, so you can apply at any time.
