What Scotland's Saltire Scholarships gave you

You received a about 9,200 EUR (GBP 8,000) discount on your tuition fees for one year of a full-time Master’s degree at a Scottish university. The funding came from the Scottish Government, which ran the programme in partnership with Scottish universities. It covered tuition fees only, so you had to cover your living costs and any remaining tuition fees yourself. You were also invited to welcome events and graduation ceremonies to meet academics and representatives from the business community in Scotland. Up to 50 scholarships were awarded per round.

Who could apply

• Degree level: You have started a Master’s degree, either on-campus or via distance learning.
• Where you studied: Any Scottish university offering a degree programme in one of the following fields: natural sciences and technology, the creative industries, health and medicine, or clean and renewable energy.
• Nationality: You were a citizen of Canada, China (including Hong Kong), India, Japan, Pakistan or the USA.
• Admission: You had been offered a place on an eligible degree programme at a Scottish university. A conditional offer was fine.
• Money: You could demonstrate that you are able to cover your living costs and any tuition fees not covered by the scholarship.
• First time in Scotland: They had never studied in Scotland before and had never received a Saltire Scholarship.
• Language: You have reached the level of English required for your course.

How to apply

You applied via an online form, quoting the reference number from your university’s offer letter. The final application deadline was midnight on 31 May.
