Swedish Institute Scholarships for Global Professionals (SISGP)

What the SISGP gives you

You get a fully funded master's degree in Sweden. The Swedish Institute pays your full tuition fee directly to your university and adds a monthly living allowance of SEK 12,000 (about 1,070 EUR) for your whole study period. Master's programmes in Sweden run one or two years full time. You also get a one-time travel grant of SEK 15,000 (about 1,340 EUR), or SEK 10,000 (about 890 EUR) if you come from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova or Ukraine. During your studies you join the SI Network for Global Professionals, a network of scholarship holders, and the Sweden Alumni Network afterwards. The award comes from the Swedish Institute, a Swedish government agency. It does not cover insurance, family members, the University Admissions application fee, or the travel grant if you already live in Sweden.

Who can apply

• Nationality: You are a citizen of one of 34 eligible countries across Latin America, Africa, the Middle East, Central and Southeast Asia and Eastern Europe (for example Brazil, Kenya, Egypt, Indonesia, Ukraine and Vietnam). You do not have to live in your home country.
• Degree level: You apply for a full-time master's programme taught in English at a Swedish university on the SI-eligible list.
• Field of study: Your programme falls under governance, public health, entrepreneurship and innovation, or STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics).
• Tuition liability: You have to pay tuition fees in Sweden, which is generally the case for non-EU/EEA/Swiss citizens.
• Work experience: You have at least 3,000 hours of work experience (from up to three employers) before February 2026. If you come from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova or Ukraine, you only need to show work experience, with no minimum hours.
• Leadership experience: You can show leadership from a job or from civil-society work, such as leading colleagues, holding decision-making power, or running a community initiative.
• No prior Swedish ties: You have not studied at or graduated from a Swedish university, have not lived in Sweden for 2 years or more before the scholarship, and have not held an SI scholarship before.

How to apply

First apply to up to four master's programmes through the central portal University Admissions between 16 October 2025 and 15 January 2026. Then submit your SI scholarship application on the SI portal between 9 and 25 February 2026, closing at 14:59 CET on the final day. Use SI's own templates for your CV, two essays, two references and proof of work and leadership experience. You must be admitted to an eligible programme by 26 March 2026 to stay in the running. Winners are announced on 23 April 2026.

How realistic are your chances?

This is a competitive, fully funded award open to millions of people across 34 countries, so the applicant pool is large and selection is tough. Grades are not the deciding factor. The committee weighs your essays, your work record and above all your leadership experience, and how clearly your studies would drive change back home. If you have a concrete track record of leadership and a sharp story linking your field to your country's development, and you get admitted to your programme on time, you have a real chance.
