What you get

For each academic year, you will receive a scholarship of 30% discount on your tuition fees as well as a comprehensive sports support package. The support includes access to UWE Bristol’s elite sports facilities, the ‘TeamBuildr’ strength and conditioning training app, coaching from elite sports coaches, physiotherapy, and support in the areas of sports psychology, nutrition and a performance-oriented lifestyle. UWE Bristol (University of the West of England) awards up to 30 of these scholarships per cycle to elite athletes from abroad.

Who can apply

• Study level: You are starting a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree at UWE Bristol.
• Field of study: Open to all degree programmes. Some postgraduate programmes are excluded from the fee reduction, including the MBA, the LPC, the GDL, the MSc in Robotics, and research and distance-learning programmes.
• Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities are welcome to apply, provided they pay the tuition fees for international students (international tuition fees).
• Sporting level: You compete at a high level in your sport and are ready to represent UWE Bristol at BUCS (British Universities and Colleges Sport) competitions.
• Admission: You meet the entry requirements set by the University of West England, Bristol, for your degree programme.
• No double funding: You are not a funded student and do not currently receive any other tuition fee discount from UWE Bristol.
• Ambassador role: You are prepared to support the university during your studies and to remain an active member of the university’s alumni network after you graduate.

How to apply

Please register your interest via the online application form for the International Sports Scholarship. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to an interview with the performance team. Due to the high number of applications, only successful candidates will be contacted.

How realistic are your chances?

This funding is highly targeted: you must be an international student and an athlete who competes at a very high level, which means the pool of applicants is smaller than for open scholarships. With up to 30 grants available per allocation round, your chances are good if you can provide clear evidence of your sporting achievements and are willing to compete on behalf of the university. Apply early, as places are limited and applications are assessed in several stages.
