Wiedemann Foundation scholarship (Türkheim)

You will receive a sum of monthly scholarship, as well as one-off grants for books and learning materials. The exact amounts are not published; the foundation determines them based on your individual circumstances. It may also cover the costs of additional tuition if you have to miss lessons for an extended period due to illness, as well as the costs of materials you require during your studies. Josef and Fanny Wiedemann set up the foundation in 1963 to support gifted pupils from Türkheim whose parents are on low incomes.

Who can apply

• Where you live: Your home address is in Türkheim (Unterallgäu, Bavaria).
• Financial need: Your parents are on a low income and cannot cover the full cost of your studies.
• Level: You are a student on a Diplom, Magister, Master’s or university of applied sciences degree programme. School pupils may also apply.
• Field of study: Any subject except Theology.
• Talent: You are achieving excellent results at school or at university.

How to apply

Please request the application form from the Foundation’s office in Türkheim. Return it together with your most recent school report or a record of your academic performance, as well as proof of your parents’ income. The deadline is at the end of May, and the payment will be made in September.

How realistic are your chances?

The eligibility criteria for this grant are very strict. You must live in Türkheim and prove that your family is on a low income, which means that only a small group of local residents can apply. If you meet these criteria and can demonstrate your need, your chances are good. As a small local foundation, it places greater emphasis on a clear, well-documented case than on a polished presentation.
