About this award / prize

Benefit

You will win 20,000 SEK (about 1,790 EUR) as a one-off cash prize for the best final-year dissertation in the field of quality and process development. You will also have the opportunity to present your work to the industry. The four finalists will each be given a 15-minute slot to present their work in a webinar this autumn, and the winner will present their thesis at the World Quality Day conference in November. The Swedish Quality Association (SFK) awards the prize every year in memory of Olle Jonson, who was committed to strengthening quality education in Sweden and abroad.

Eligibility

  • What you submit: A completed final-year dissertation (examensarbete) at Bachelor’s or Master’s level (Level C or D).
  • Topic: Your dissertation focuses on quality and process development, for example on improving production quality, reliability or efficiency.
  • Where you studied: You wrote the thesis at a Swedish university or university college. Theses from outside Sweden do not qualify.
  • Timing: You have submitted your final thesis during the current academic year.
  • Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities are welcome to apply, provided they have studied in Sweden.

How to apply

Please submit your complete thesis as a PDF, together with a 1 to 3-page summary of the results and methods, via the SFK submission portal by 31 August. A jury will select four finalists, who will present their work in a webinar in the autumn, and will announce the winner in October.

How realistic are your chances?

This is an annual award aimed at a narrowly defined target group: authors of final-year dissertations in the field of quality and process development at Swedish universities. The field is small compared to open scholarships. Only four finalists are selected, so you will be recognised for a compelling, clearly argued thesis that makes a genuine practical contribution. If your work is genuinely relevant to the field of quality and you can concisely demonstrate its contribution, your prospects are good.
