Skandia Best Master and Bachelor Theses Awards

You get a one-off cash prize for the best degree thesis on long-term savings: around SEK 50,000 (about 4,400 EUR) for the best master's thesis and around SEK 30,000 (about 2,650 EUR) for the best bachelor's thesis. One or more runner-up prizes may also be awarded. These amounts cover all winners together, so they can vary with how many prizes are handed out. The Thule Foundation at Skandia gives the awards each year. Skandia is a Nordic provider of savings and insurance products and has recognised the best theses in this area since 2014.

Who can apply

• Level: You wrote a bachelor's or master's thesis.
• University: You defended it at a Swedish college or university.
• Timing: You defended it during the current academic year (for the 2025 round, the 2024/25 year).
• Topic: Your thesis is about long-term savings and how it relates to banking, insurance or financial services, mainly in a Swedish context.
• Field of study: Any subject works, as long as the topic connects to long-term savings.
• Language: You wrote the thesis in Swedish or English.
• Nationality: Any nationality can apply.

How to apply

You submit your thesis as a PDF by email. You also send a short recommendation from your supervisor or examiner and a note of the grade you received. For the current round, applications are open from 1 April 2025 until 15 September 2025. The Thule Foundation then judges the entries and may decide not to award a prize if no thesis is suitable.

How realistic are your chances?

This is a narrow prize. It fits only theses on one specific topic, long-term savings, defended at a Swedish university, so the pool of eligible entries is small compared with open scholarships. If your thesis clearly hits that theme and earned a strong grade, your prospects are real. Keep in mind that only a handful of prizes are given each year, and the foundation can withhold them entirely if the quality is not there.
