About this award / prize
What you get
You win a cash prize for writing a technical article about a building's indoor climate, installation technology or energy technology. The prize is awarded once a year by the foundations of the Energy and Environmental Technology Society (Energi- och Miljötekniska Föreningen, EMTF), a Swedish trade association for installation and energy engineering. There are three entry types: an article based on a graduation thesis, one based on a research project, or another kind of technical article. Winning entries may also appear in the EMTF magazine Energi & Miljö. The exact amount is not published, and the board decides how many prizes to give each year.
Who can apply
- Membership: You are a member of the Energy and Environmental Technology Society (EMTF).
- Your entry: You submit an original technical article of about 1,500 words on a building's indoor climate, installation technology or energy technology.
- Field: The article covers building energy and environmental engineering, such as indoor climate, heating, ventilation or sanitation.
- Timing: You finished the work behind the article within the year before the submission deadline.
- Not published before: You have not published the article anywhere and have not sent it to any other editor.
- Nationality: Anyone can apply, but the organisation works in Swedish.
How to apply
Send the completed application form and your article by email, using "Stipendieansökan" as the subject line. The deadline is 10 November, and the prizes are awarded on 10 December. A jury appointed by EMTF judges each entry on writing quality, how well it follows the article template, and its technical quality and originality.
How realistic are your chances?
This prize is narrow. You must be an EMTF member and submit a fresh, unpublished article in a specialist field, so few people enter. If you fit the field and can write a strong, original piece that follows the template, your prospects are good. The board sets the number of prizes anew each year.
